this has been my fifth or sixth meal at Samira... and I have always been satisfied, while never been wowed... though not familiar with Afghan food, it still felt generic... in fact, the reason I have never been really interested in the occasional invitations to Samira is the sameness of the food... it may be that buffet thing... not ordering off the menu... if my memory serves me, the buffet offerings were exactly the same as they were the first time I ate there four years ago... switch it up... I have no interest in going back... loved the company, though...

lovely ambience, comfortable seating. buffet style offerings of rice, curries, meats, and fresh vegetable salads. we sat between power lunch brokers, flanked to the right and left, with the manager of bloomingfoods and the mayor, respectively.

no one seemed to notice it was elvis' birthday.
